THE JOURNEY
DAY 1
The first day we will pick you up from your hotel at 07:00AM. After this we will make a 4 hour bus and boat trip to our lodge 250km into the Amazon Jungle.
When we arrive at the lodge we have lunch, prepared with local ingredients. After lunch, we will go on a canoe trip. This is a lot of fun and one of the best ways to explore the Amazon rainforest and river. Around 6 PM, dinner is served. When the sun has set we go alligator spotting.
During the night their eyes reflect in the lights of your flashlight so they are easier to spot. This night trip also gives you the opportunity to see the milky way in its full glory, as we are deep in the jungle with no city lights to block the view.
DAY 2
In the morning, you have the option to either explore the Amazon by boat or to go piranha fishing. Our local jungle guide is there to explain to you the animals and plants that you encounter and to answer any questions that you may have. If you decide to go piranha fishing, you will likely be surprised with how easy they are to catch with a little bit of chicken. This night, you have the option to camp in the middle of the jungle.
In the afternoon, we go to the depths of the jungle. There we prepare our sleeping places and cook dinner on a campfire. Your bed in the jungle is a hammock at the camp. A mosquito net will protect you from the mosquitos. During the night, animals may visit the camp and give you the opportunity to see a few species you have never encountered before. You will also be surprised by the noises that the jungle animals produce.
DAY 3
You start the day early in the morning to see the sunrise over the Amazon and go back to the jungle lodge for breakfast. After breakfast you go on a jungle trek for about 3 hours. Our jungle guide shows you the animals and explains the medical use of the plants that you encounter in the jungle.
You have lunch back at the jungle lodge and travel back to Manaus by boat and bus around 2:00 PM. In Manaus, we bring you back to your hotel to rest (this is not included in the price).
You arrive in Manaus around 17:00PM. This evening we bring you to a hotel (this night is not included in the price of the tour). The last day of the tour is in another area of the jungle, which is closer to Manaus. In the hotel you can rest for the night before we start the tour again the next morning.
DAY 4
This morning we pick you up from your hotel. You will start the Amazon Wonders tour by seeing the famous Teatro Amazonas. This renaissance style opera house opened its doors in 1896 and is still in use today. Then, we make our way to Manaus harbour. In the harbour, we will board a ship that will take us to the world famous Meeting of the Waters.
This is the place where the dark water of the Rio Negro and the muddy water of the Solimões river meet to form the Amazon river. The boat will cruise the Amazon and take you to one of the wonders of the Amazon, the pink river dolphins. This species only exists in the Amazon delta and is known for its long mouth and pink color. You will get the unique opportunity to have a swim with these amazing animals and experience how curious and friendly they are.
After a lunch with local dishes and fruits, we will explore one of the smaller rivers that lead into the Amazon. This gives you the opportunity to see various types of wildlife and some amazing plants, including the famous victoria amazonica with its enormous leaves.
After the tour we bring you back to any place of choice in Manaus. This could be a hotel or the airport.
DAY 5,6 (optional)
If you stay longer, you can do an additional fishing expedition, going for bigger fish, or doing spear fishing at night. An extra night in the jungle or a trek on a different location are other options. You can also relax in your hammock and just enjoy the nature of course.
