Maintaining your health is more prevalent in today’s society than ever before. How we actually maintain our health properly is an age-old question that often provides abstract answers. What we do know is that increasing stress is extremely bad for a happy and healthy state of mind. Stress is a phenomenon that is all around us in the modern world. The constant feeling of having to do things does not make people relax more.
What we know for sure is that the internet and the modern jungle has made us more in touch with each other. But because of this, we have partially lost touch with ourselves. Many people abuse the internet and are subconsciously constantly looking for the next dopamine rush. Because of this, the ordinary triggers of nature: such as the birds chirping, the beautiful green leaves and the trees will no longer interest them. Getting back in touch with themselves becomes an almost impossible task because of this. For future generations it will only become more and more difficult to make this connection with themselves.

Personally, I have always felt that there was more to be done. At work, at the sports club, in your free time, it could never really be enough. Yet I came to the conclusion that all this rush for more didn’t make the quality of all the experiences better. It actually only caused more unnecessary stress. This feeling actually haunted me for a long period of time until I chose to do a jungle tour in August 2021. Totally disconnected from the internet, I did a six day jungle tour in Brazil at the Rio Urubu lodge near Manaus. This tour made me realise that surviving in the jungle was actually accompanied by less stress than a week in corporate life. .

So what causes you to have less stressful thoughts in this environment (where it is not exactly “better”)? The answer is nature. Researchers have found that stress and certain illnesses are less common in people who live in, or are frequently in green environments. In addition, being outdoors also provides the necessary intake of vitamin D. Plants and trees also improve air quality, and this too has a positive effect on the health of the people who breathe this air.
Some scientists go a step further. Scientists Clinton Ober, Dr. Stephen Sinatra, and Martin Zucker claim that being in contact with nature through “earthing” heals certain disease conditions faster.
So why go to the Amazon Rainforest?
Nature is a great way to reconnect with yourself. In nature it is easier to let go of distracting stimuli and reconnect with your environment and yourself. Do you want to experience what you are like without all these distractions of the Internet, phones and busy cities? Then we recommend a jungle tour deep in the Amazon.
If you want to watch or read more about the earthing phenomenon we recommend you to read the book ‘earthing’ by these scientists or to watch their earthing documentary on Youtube
